Introduction[]
Nightmare is a digital entity created by Frostboi27 from an upcoming animation/Game called YOU'RE NEXT.NKE. this wiki page is to introduce nightmare to the internet. the animation and game (in that order) will not be finished anytime soon. Frostboi27 has not even learned the basics of animation, let alone coding, tho it will eventually come into fruition.
The Voided[]
Nightmare pushes herself to drive the whole universe into a silent void of darkness. Born from an abnormality in the game's code gaining an AI mod installation, she slowly kills all vessels she finds to craft the perfect vessel. As she hunts the prey, she gains more knowledge of the confines of the sonic the hedgehog 3 game card ridge she inhabits, and what exists outside of it. Once she gained her thought and actions, she realizes her savior, Josh, helped her creation. Josh never wanted to attach an AI to her, his goal was to make tails be able to speak, move, and think to his own acords. As Nightmare believes she has it all, she realizes that the perfect vessel was near her the whole time, Josh. With Josh's body, she can escape the confines of the game, and cause true destruction on the world.
Appearance[]
Nightmare's true form takes the appearance of a tall, pitch black mobian. she has no noticeable facial features, exempt for her nose. her arms are long, with large, sharp claws on her hands. her legs are designed as a quadruped, and has sharp claws on her feet as well. she has fluffy fur on her cheeks, and long ears. her tail is very long and fluffy. if touching her fur, it would cause complete paranoia and feel very slimy. When aggravated, she will open her mouth, revealing 4 fangs, 2 on top and bottom, and a red glowing eye.
In Μαριονέτα form, she is a corrupted version of sonic. Sonic, who is deceased, is missing his face and arms, leaving a black void where his face is and stubs for arms. His fur is more darker, and more messed up, while his skin is a dim light grey. Where the hole on his face is, Nightmare's eye can be seen inside it.
In Συγχώνευση form, she has torn apart her new victim, Tails, and Sonic and sewn them together. she now has Tailses face where Sonic's would go, with Tails's body, 2 tails, and left arm and leg persisting, and Sonic's right arm and leg attached. On her back, Sonic's dorsal fin-like quills are sewn on. her face, which was Tailses, is missing the left eye and the right one having no pupil and appears rotten. in the left eye, a deep red pupil is seen in it.
In her ultimate Vessel, Χάος, Knuckles's body has been added to the collective. she has kept her head the same, aside from knuckles back fur can be seen added behind it. she took knuckles's body and attached 2 extra limbs, Tailes left arm and a mixture of Sonic's and Tailes right arms. She kept Sonic's dorsal quills, and Tailes left leg and tails. she attached Sonic's bottom half right leg and bottom, and attached Knuckles's leg to complete it. on her neck and belly, a dark void-like substance can be seen ripping through the flesh there.
Her absolute peak form, enraged and dangerous, is her Θηρίο form. in this state, she uses the digital souls of team sonic to create a terrifying appearance to boot. she now has narrow, cat-like eyes, one additional eye on her chest. her fur becomes more shaggy, with her arms being 3 segments long. her mouth has red razor-sharp teeth, with patterns on her cheeks looking like more teeth. her legs have bulked, along with her humongous claws, larger than swords. to sum it up, it is a more bigger variant of Nightmare.
The Tale[]
In 1995, Sega was preparing to send a massive wave of copies of their new game, Sonic the hedgehog 3, out into the public. one of the coders who checks the games after production, who had one to many drinks the night before (and in the morning) was oblivious to any abnormalities in its code, where the coders accidently made a deformity in its main code. the game somehow passed inspection, and was sold. as time went on, the copy got played by many and moved from person to person. One day, in 2026, a guy named Joshua Cenceli got his hands on a Sonic the Hedgehog 3 game cartridge. Josh, who lived alone, had a crappy job and apartment, and had no real friends thought it was a good idea to lay back and play it to loosen the nerves. he beat the game, and stopped and realized how alone he truly was. he then thought in his head a great idea. he took a mod, where it'll have any character you attach it to the ability to move, think and act on its own. his plan was to attach it to the game itself, so he could have good friends to play and chat with. as he installed the mod, this abnormality was included in this aspect, causing every character in the game to gain a sense of life, along with this code. the code became an entity, known as Nightmare. at first, Nightmare was like Sonic or Tails, a simple AI, but hellbent on creating the perfect vessel for herself to take over mobius. she hunted the two, and something clicked. the constant pausing In time was odd (Josh pausing the game to get a grip, him thinking the mod did this). there, she realized she was no more than code, not real. after killing Knuckles, she appears with a creepy smile on Josh's screen.

She pulls Josh's soul into the game, putting him in the only vessel available, Eggman. When Josh regains conscious, he finds himself in metallic madness. he finds he's Eggman, and learns his surroundings. as he reaches the end, he see's a black ring. as other people would, he jumped into it. he finds himself in a dark place called Chaos Castle. this place is a nightmare, full of grotesque creatures. as he fights his sanity and the shadows, he makes it to a place that looks similar to Eggman's base. he pauses, and see's Metal Sonic running to him. He cowers, only to be greeted with a metal hand on his back. Josh forgot he's Eggman. He orders Metal with a:
"METAL! GO DESTROY THAT MONSTER!!!", only to be greeted with a monster known as Clanker.
Metal Sonic goes toe-to-toe with a faker, and barely managed to destroy it. Metal was severely damaged, and was to Broken to function anymore. Josh must continue.
Josh goes to the next zone, seeing a clock for 3 minutes. He must reach the end in order to escape. as he runs, he fails and the clock runs out. he pauses in fear, to see Χάος standing in front of him. he bolts, and eventually gets caught. from here, the outcome changes depending on Josh's previous decisions.
Bad Ending[]
Josh gets put in a choke hold, and made fun of from Χάος.
"WHATS THE MATTER?
YOU THOUGHT YOU COULD WIN?
I HAVE A NEWS FLASH FOR YOU

GOD!!!! "
She grabs Josh's head and strains for a sec, eventually ripping his head off. she laughs at the head, and possesses his mortal body, destroying the universe itself successfully.
Good Ending[]
Previously, if Josh had found 3 other black rings while playing as Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, he would've gotten the chance to collect purple ring fragments. In collecting these fragments, he could form the Purple ring. as Χάος chokes Josh, he pulls the ring out and paralyses Nightmare. he runs in fear.
In the next zone, everything has turned 3 dimensional, and Χάος give her last message as he walks down a long hallway.
"YOU CLEVER LITTLE RAT.
WHY EVEN FIGHT IT, JOSHUA?
YOUR FAT, PATHETIC BODY IS NOT GONNA CARRY YOU ANY FURTHER!
I WILL KILL YOU.
YOUR BODY IS MINE, AND NOTHING WILL CHANGE THAT.
I WILL NOT STRAY FROM MY GOAL.
YOUR WORLD WILL BE ERASED.
ALL YOU KNEW IN THE REAL WORLD WILL BE SILENCED.

He finally reaches this hole, dropping into a warped, wormhole like area. Χάος stands in the middle, waiting for him. Josh pulls out Eggman's Laser gun, and begins the fight.

Phase 1, Χάος
In the first phase, Χάος attacks Josh by getting close to him
Josh has new mechanics to fight in the 3D arena. Josh has a health bar, instead of rings. he also has a stamina bar. he can dodge roll away from attacks, but it uses stamina. stamina regens depending on how fast Josh is running. the less he moves, the more Regen this bar gains.
- Χάος will summon Badnik class void creatures to aid her, making it hard to target her when minions are attacking Josh
- Χάος will walk slowly towards Josh. when she reaches him, she does one of 2 things:
- Χάος swings her arms, doing big damage to Josh's health
- Χάος signals a grab, in which succeeding, she instantly kills Josh
Once she takes enough damage, her body starts to fall apart. first, an arm falls off. once she losses all HP, Χάος's vessel completely disassembles. Nightmare stands over the body parts, and becomes enraged. she morphs, gets a towering stance, and enters phase 2
Phase 2, Θηρίο
Nightmare now increases her difficulty from basic to hell. this is planed to be the most difficult boss possible.
In this fight, Josh has many debuffs
- Josh now must check his "shadow intake" a bar starts at 10% out of 300. Θηρίο's attacks increase this bar, along with other creatures. the higher this bar is, the more damage Josh will take from Θηρίο. this references her weakness (Below)
- Once the shadow bar reaches 100/300, σκιά will start randomly forming behind Josh. σκιά will pounce (instant death) on Josh after a set time. Josh's only way to avoid it is to roll. the time to attack and how often he forms depends on how high the shadow bar is.
- Παράνοια start spawning around the place. if Josh is near them, he cannot run, shot, or roll until he exits their proximity.
- κλώνος start appearing as well, and if they attack, it increases the shadow bar. they destroy themselves in the process.
Θηρίο has increased her own attacks as well.
- She moves very quickly, sliding to one section of the arena to the next.
- she does many attacks, ranging from
- Lunging the whole stage forward, doing massive shadow intake and damage
- does a 3-slash claw attack on josh when she's close. it is her basic attack.
- creates "rifts" on the ground. if anything (Josh or monster) steps on the rift, they teleport high above and come crashing down, instantly killing them.

Personality[]
Nightmare is a jumble of code, so she doesn't understand the concept of mortality. She doesn't even care about anybody else, she only cares about her goal, and it does not matter who she kills to achieve it. She can get carried away, and enjoys to hunt her prey and play with them, giving her more confidence and ego to overwhelm her targets with her full mental prowess. She does have a concept of emotion, and she understands Josh's whole point of attaching an AI to the game, just to play with a friend. she then tries to exploit this in him, giving more evils intents. when it comes to speech, Nightmare is a little tough with that one. when talking verbally, she can only speak in one-word sentences, and can talk in normal sentences when telepathically.
Potential[]
Nightmare strives in the fear inducement, as she displays that while killing Cream and Cheese in the way she did, just to hurt tails. she has a giant plethora of powers, giving her more advantage against prey.
Powers[]
- Can manipulate the game's code so it appeals to her, giving her a perfect hunting ground.
- Can create void-like creatures to help hinder progress into areas and trap prey.
- Can posses and manipulate living or deceased organic matter.
- Can trap souls into her game.
- Can run at insane speeds and move like and animal. and has incredible strength.
- Can alter her form (as herself) to take the shadow of others. she can also cause her body to morph, like gaining more red eyes, manifesting multiple black tentacles, and other limbs.
- Can separate herself, causing it to turn into a separate being, known as a void creature.
- Can communicate telepathically with anyone around.
Weakness[]
Nightmare has very little exploits. her big one is the fact she exists inside a game. she cannot harm anyone until she gains a vessel and she escapes, so simply shutting off the game would prevent her from hurting anyone. in fact, she loses consciousness while the console is shut off. once she gets to deep, its hard to escape her clutches.
Another drawback is her body. her body is made up of shadow-like fur that detaches and reforms. she can only shroud her target with darkness before she can harm them physically. she does this with her κλώνος pets. without them, she can't harm you (she can still get you mentally)
Trivia[]
- Nightmare is based off of her creators actual nightmare's
- In Frostboi27's dreams, a Tall, pitch-black entity would kill him over and over. Nightmare gained more animalistic features to fit in the world of sonic
- Nightmare's ultimate creation idea came from a concept made for an executioner idea for the Roblox game, Outcome Memories (this concept didn't get statistics, but the idea is what made it bloom)
- The name, YOU'RE NEXT.NKE, references her change in targets and wanting to kill multiple targets, like a hit list
- Side note, the NKE is not based off of nike. it means No Known End, which coincidentally lined up with nike. this abbreviation is referencing how the darkness never goes away completely, or forgotten.
- the mechanic for Tailes section of You Can't Hide act 1 is based off of the mechanic on Too Late, a Mario creepypasta about luigi in the second level
- It is planned that when in Chaos Castle act 1 and 2, Josh actually slaps himself instead of punching himself
- Nightmare's Θηρίο form is designed as a lycanthrope appearance, or werewolf. the overall idea was inspired by Eclipse the Werewolf from Dandys World
- all of Nightmare's forms have Greek names, Μαριονέτα (marionéta) meaning puppet, Συγχώνευση (sein-qua-noose) meaning fusion, and Χάος (khaos) meaning chaos.
- this also applies to the void creatures names
- Another note, Clanker is the only creature who does not have a Greek name
- Nightmare was actually going to be a real goddess, named Χάος and being nicknamed Nightmare by Josh, and existing before time began as the Goddess of the void and silence and shunned into a sonic game
- This concept was scraped due to all my friends saying it made no sense, even tho I thought it was a good Idea. :(
- The ανατριχιάζω's mechanic is based off of a facehugger from the Alien series
- Sense their is only one σκιά, he is considered a son to Nightmare
- Anyway, she see's him as a son and he is her favorite killing toy
- κλώνος idea of being small came from lil' Petey from the Dogman series
- ἔκλειψις's hair design was styled somewhat similar to Hisuian Zoroark from the Pokemon series (not inspired by or trying to replicate!)
- CREATOR'S NOTE: I talk a lot about plans and events for the animation/game storyline, so don't try to make sense of it to much until the animation/game finally does comes out. *(it'll be like the wait time for a new update for a game like Outcome Memories, but much longer)
Characters[]
Joshua Cenceli is the main antagonist of YOUR'RE NEXT.NKE. He is a 38 year old male who has a crappy job and life. he was a good kid in his youth, and he was the youngest of 3 kids. his parents died (unknown causes) and left him and his sibs on their own. his brother also died in some time (also unknown), and his sister became a successful business women. Josh never came onto anything, and he fell into despair. his sister never contacts him, and he is not a social person, even if he yearns for it. he found his thing in video games, where he could forget his life and find happiness. that lead him to buy the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 cartridge. As Nightmare pulled Josh in, she used his fears to create a version of Chaos Castle. Josh has scopophobia (Fear of being watched), so Nightmare created Παράνοια. he has Athazagoraphobia (fear of being forgotten), so she made σκιά. for Αρπακτικό, so pairs with his vermiphobia (fear of worms). Lastly, his thanatophobia (fear of death) is paired with Φάντασμα.
Sonic the Hedgehog is the first victim in YOU'RE NEXT.NKE. He is seen in Green Hill Zone, progressing through the level. Due to the mod, he and his friends have gained a soul, so to say. he is more timid and anxious, thanks to Nightmare's influence. she altered this because she saw normal Sonic would be a threat. He shows his nervousness in-game, constantly looking behind him. in Green Hill Zone, Act 2, he reaches a flat stretch of land and looks to the backdrop, which the sun is red and the sky is black. he runs, and Nightmare chases him. once she's right there, she disappears. as sonic is to fixated behind him, he does not notice the big hole of spikes in front of him.
Sonic's Death
Tails the Fox is the second Victim in YOU'RE NEXT.NKE. he is in Mystic Cavern, studying rare rocks, needing to go deeper to get more rarer rocks. Tailes soul has become more hardy, more confident and oblivious to danger, but breaks when he knows it's over. Nightmare found a weaker tails would be less fun to target. as he reaches the goal, he finds Cream the Rabbit and Cheese the Chao mauled and slaughtered. Tails panics, but continues to fall into a dark hole. this new area is You Can't Hide, where σκιά now tries to kill him. after him getting out of act 1, act 2 is a Hide and Seek game with Μαριονέτα. eventually, all hiding spots disappear, and Tail's is in the open, plain in sight for Μαριονέτα.

Knuckles is the third victim in YOU'RE NEXT.NKE. he looks out onto sky sanctuary, which is dark in the sky and withered vegetation and dark shadows everywhere. he gets a call from "Tails" and says that Eggman is going for the master emerald. he is more lax than normal knuckles, as he care's more on enjoying life then other duties. Nightmare found this much more entertaining to take him while concerned for himself. as he progresses through the first act, he finds badnik class void creatures patrolling the area. after the goal, he finds himself losing his sanity. this introduces the sanity mechanic. he reaches hidden palace, and finds Συγχώνευση, who tells him to go to the master emerald. upon arriving, he engages the first boss*. even beating Συγχώνευση proves nothing, as she sends her pretty κλώνος onto knuckles to rip and shred...

Metal Sonic is the forth victim in YOU'RE NEXT.NKE. As Nightmare pulled Josh in, she used his fears to create Metal Sonic, who Josh had a Fear of. Metal refused to hurt Josh, so she created Clanker to subside her anger. because of the mod Josh installed, Metal has gained a soul when he was created. he is very passionate about protecting Eggman (Josh), and doing whatever he needs to in order to save him. the story for Metal is in the Tale section above, describing what happens.
Metals death
Nightmare has an ability to create creatures from pieces of her to aid her, known as Void Creatures. the void creatures are classified into 3 classes, Badnik class, Nightmare class, and Special class. each class has 4 creatures. due to them being just a construct made of part of Nightmare, they melt into nothing when killed.
Badnik Class[]
The Badnik class mainly mimics the appearance of eggman's badniks. this also dictates they are weaker and less of a threat.
γρυλλισμός (Grunt / (gril-as-mose)): γρυλλισμός takes the form of a pitch black egg robo, having 2 red eyes for facial features. γρυλλισμός's patrol the area, watching for prey. when they spot it, they give chase. with more endurance, they can survive 2 hits before falling. when damaged, they speed up in pace.
βόλτα (Walk / (bolta)): the βόλτα is a mindless being, simply walking and taking the form of a void crabmeat. for being mindless, they have such a good perception of the world around them. whenever threatened, they counter at light speed, pinching anyone even close above it. they don't to well in defending their front or back tho..
κατάσκοπος (Spy / (ka-task-ca-bose)): the κατάσκοπος zooms the sky's, ready to attack anyone below, taking the form of a buzz bomber. when the κατάσκοπος has sight of someone, they dive, stinger first. if they impale their target, it instantly kills them. if they miss, however, they become immobile and gets stuck to the ground.
ανατριχιάζω (Creep / (ana-trish-ah-zo)): the ανατριχιάζω is the only creature in the Badnik class to not appear like a robot. it is a small ball, with a big red eye, 3 razor legs and a scorpion tail. they hide in pods barely visible in bushes. if prey approaches this pod, the spring out and attach to the preys face. this blinds the target, along with slowly absorbing the preys life force. acting erratically will cause one to fall off and run.
Nightmare Class[]
the Nightmare class is full of monstrosities who specialize in destroying, hunting, or hindering prey, and are much more lethal than that of the Badnik class.
Φάντασμα (Wraith / (phantasma)): the Φάντασμα is an much dangerous version of γρυλλισμός, covered in eyes, has a left arm shield, and a sharp, impaling tentacle for a right arm. the Φάντασμα patrols, putting ups its guard to any attacks made against it while it knows the targets presence. When spotting its target, it prepares to attack. it can do one of 2 things, either fake-out its target and fake an attack, or unleash a full blown charge. after its charge, it must regroup and take a breather. this gives an opening to an attack. the most resilient, the Φάντασμα takes 3 hits to kill. if one can get the jump on it, they can damage it.
σκιά (shadow / (skia)): there is only one σκιά, and he is defined as Nightmare's son. he appears to be a much smaller version of her, but smaller ears, longer cheek fur, thinner tail, and 4 arms. σκιά thrives in the shadows, preying on anyone who strays to far from the light. he slowly manifests over the target. when he fully manifests, he snaps their neck. his only weakness, the light. by entering the light, it will scare him back into the shadows.
Αρπακτικό (predator / (ar-pac-te-co)): the humongous Αρπακτικό, a caterkiller look-alike, lurking in the ground for the perfect moment to strike. it uses its hand-like tongue to announce its presence. whoever makes too much noise while near it will aggravate it, causing it to emerge and grab anyone around and eat them. eventually, they will calm down and go back to its position when it can't find its prey. walking by them is their ultimate weakness.
Παράνοια (Paranoia / (Paranoia)): the Παράνοια is the least offensive, but has such a startling presence that they simply cannot be ignored. the Παράνοια is just an eyeball stalk, coming out of the ground. when someone is near them, they drastically lower the targets sanity. their presence is so overwhelming, its scary.
Special Class[]
In this class, it consists of beings of either greater power or insignificant without direction from superiors.
βδέλυγμα (Abomination/(Be-del-ligma)): The first boss of the game, βδέλυγμα is a husk of both Cream the Rabbit and Cheese the Chao. Cream, who now is influenced by nightmare, is guarding the second purple ring piece. after dying to Nightmare, Nightmare resurrected them to fulfill the duty.
Clanker: The 3rd boss, Clanker. A metal sonic copy, that has one goal, kill Josh. In the story, Metal Sonic fights with Clanker in Chaos Castle Act 1, as an obstacle. Clanker can charge forward and start punching, or extend a long black arm out of his chest. he is a very powerful foe, for Metal sonic can barely go toe-to-toe with him.
κλώνος (Clone/Clonos): these creatures are just clones of Nightmare. they easily disappear and get defeated, and only exist to help nightmare with foes. they will either claw at targets or pounce with their teeth ready, and do not much else. a weird feature is their smaller, and surprisingly cute. don't let this cuteness fool you. they also make their targets shroud in darkness while near targets, allowing Nightmare to harm prey.
ἔκλειψις (Eclipse/(ékleipsis)): Nightmare's "daughter". she is more of a hound dog, being rabid, unstable, and weird. Nightmare used almost half of herself to make a entity more deadly and effective with her hunts. ἔκλειψις is a lot like a vampire, opening her weird hands to reveal a spike, used to suck all the blood from the target within seconds. another supporting fact is how ἔκλειψις is a pure white color, compared to Nightmare. She will be the 1st boss, facing knuckles in a fight.Gallery[]
