Rotten Blue, sometimes shortened to Rotten, is an EXE created by Bopple McNuggets. They are a parasitic, mutated version of Cheese that was kidnapped by Eggman in an alternate universe version of Sonic canon.
The Creature[]
Rotten Blue has the mind of a feral animal, with its only desire being to feed off of the life of anyone it can catch. Victims of Rotten quickly decay into hollow, rotting shells that Rotten can then puppet around by melding itself into their skull. By far its favorite body to puppet is Cream, its former best friend that it grew to despise over the process of its mutation, yet still cannot fully shake its affection for. As it began to target and consume other Mobians, it quickly became a well-known terror and a common foe of Sonic. It wasn't long before it became enough of a threat, in fact, that there was a brief period of time where Eggman chose to team up with Sonic to try and take it down, though soon after his rehabilitation he ended up taking his own life through a combination of stress and regret over the circumstances of Rotten's creation. To this day Rotten continues to terrorize the planet and claim many victims, kept in check only by the efforts of Sonic and his friends.
The Tale[]
In an alternate version of Sonic canon, Cheese was kidnapped by Dr. Eggman right in front of their friend Cream when she was only 4 years old, alongside countless other Chao. Eggman kidnapped these Chao in a plan to create a subservient army, but also used them as lab rats for various experiments to help with his evil schemes, and whenever he wasn't using them he kept them in small cages to be 'maintained' by his Badniks, leaving them in horrid conditions. Eggman was more secretive about these Chao than he was about his other schemes, using big, extravagent displays of evil to keep Sonic and his friends distracted. Chaos were often injected with experimental serums just to see what would happen, and many of them simply died soon afterwards, but Cheese was an exception. Cheese was the 36th Chao injected, this time with a transformative mixture made from the DNA of numerous parasitic animals, and they were able to live much, much longer than others with it in their bloodstream. Over a period of 2 years, Cheese was in agonizing pain from the mixture's effects as it slowly transformed their body, during which they were left with only their own thoughts. Cheese was hopeful for a while that Cream or Vanilla or someone else would be coming to save them and the rest of the Chao, but after a long time with no hope in sight, Cheese grew a burning resentment towards these supposed heroes for leaving them to die, unaware that anyone who had a chance of freeing them didn't know they were kidnapped in the first place. Near the end of their transformation was when Cheese's mental state started to rapidly deteriorate into the feral mind they have now, leaving them filled with that hatred that can now never be reversed. Soon after their transformation was complete and they were now Rotten, they broke out of their containment with their increased strength, killed several imprisoned Chao out of what they believed to be mercy, and escaped into the world where they now hunt for sustenance wherever they can find it - but not before returning to the home of Cream and Vanilla to exact perceived revenge.
Combat Potential[]
Rotten's primary tool in combat is their ability to puppet corpses of its victims and use whatever powers they had in life, but they're no pushover when left on their own. Being a Chao, they retain several abilities they had in their former life, such as the ability to create tornados with their body and copy the powers of whatever they fight. Additionally, they can corrupt the minds of any living Chao and use them in large amounts as an army of slaves in worst-case scenarios. They're also surprisingly resilient for their small stature with the ability to harden their pus-like 'blood' to regenerate their wounds and inability to be exhausted through physical exertion.
Trivia[]
- They cannot speak out loud, but are capable of speaking directly into one's mind if their tentacles are touching them. Their speech is quite rudimentary, however.
- They constantly emit the foul stench of spoiled milk, which often mixes with the smell of the corpse they're puppeting to create a horrid odor that makes their presence well known.
- Omochao is the only Chao they cannot control due to him being a robot, so Rotten despises him and will try to destroy him on sight.
- About a year into Rotten's transformation, Eggman was made aware of the Chao's potential power increase and, failing to take it as seriously as he should've, ordered Orbot and Cubot to extract the tonic from their body. Orbot, being Orbot, decided to slack off instead, and Cubot had no clue how to do the extraction, so Rotten continued to mutate.
