X, more commonly referred to as The First, is the main antagonist of Sonic: Doomed Souls.
Once a mere conceptual being with no physical shape, it cemented itself as part of the timeline once it gained a deep fascination with the Sonic series.
But what happened after it became part of said timeline? Would its previous self see it as a part of this world?
It.[]
X is a ruthless and disgusting beast who, although smart, pretends to know nothing more than violence for the sake of its own sick pleasure. It has a deep fascination with the human mind and loves to test how far a will can bend before it breaks.
Appearance[]
X is a tall humanoid figure with a big, pompous "hairstyle" that resembles a ball of spines. In reality these are what appear to be extra sets of small limbs that resemble tentacles.
The majority of its body is pitch black, excepting its face, which resembles a mask. And its chest, which has an open wound that resembles the shape of an X in it, with purplish meat under the skin being revealed. Both of the former mentioned parts being white.
X also wears white gloves and socks, the latter being paired with purple shoes with white stripes.
The Tale[]

Once upon a time, there was a nameless being. Born far before the concept of time itself, far before existence itself. It looked down upon us, like if it was a god to its world. Upon laying its gaze at the Sonic franchise, it became amused and curious, so it decided to create a world that resembled it and called it "his world".
Now donning a vessel that resembled Sonic's likeness, he started looking for playthings, which he soon found.
...But we all know that story by now, don't we?
Once X entered the timeline, he became a fixed point in it. So when his timeless self looked down upon the timeline... it saw itself. It thought of itself as a mockery, a crude ridicule of what they were TRULY capable of. So, an instant after his original self (now commonly referred to as Sonic.EXE) cemented in the timeline, so did an infinite amount of hims. And one stood above all, the first and only one who was able to dethrone X.
With its newfound power and partial domain over its original self's world, its first course of action was to continue on his legacy. Not to show respect, but to mock its other half and show him that it could do better than he could.
Personality[]
X is an egotistical, serial self-praiser. It constantly boasts about its achievements and superiority to The Original. It is also an extreme and cruel sadist who takes joy in hurting others and loves being the cause of their suffering. Its victims now bordering in the dozen of thousands, it takes the time to visit each one and personally torture them for a bit of time each passing day.
Most of the time it speaks with a formal tone. Addressing people directly by first name.
The Misfits[]
The Misfits are a group of defectous vessels that directly oppose and antagonize X. This unlikely alliance of vessels are the main protagonists of the story and the driving force of the narrative.
"Sonic" (previously known as X), also called The Original is X's first and oldest victim. He's nothing more than what X became once he entered the timeline originally, now mangled by another him.
Appearance[]
In broad light, The Original looks exactly like the original Sonic the Hedgehog.
But once submerged in darkness, a pair of glowing red eyes and a red X scratched across his stomach are revealed.
Personality[]
"Sonic" is quite cold and calculating. Sometimes even manipulative, but he won't antagonize you as long as you either help him or stay out of his way. His cold persona only breaks once he's put face-to-face with X, which then results in him starting to become extremely anxious and scared.
Trivia[]
- If The Original were to die or be erased, X's existence would be undone and their world would be destroyed.
- He's willing to pretend to be just another human if it means getting more hands to help him on his cause.
- The Original, just like Crimson X, communicates via text made up of several fonts from the Sonic games.
- The Original's initial design was repurposed from an old EXE made by the same creator.
Nicholas is one of X's various victims. He plays the game in a 3D First Person horror-styled gameplay.
Appearance[]
Nicholas was placed in the vessel of Dr. Eggman. But unlike most of the other doctors, he has a very thin, sickly-looking body shape.
Personality[]
Nicholas is a coward, he has an intense fear of the dark and monsters that may dwell in it. Which is undeniably proven right because all he's ever known for years is torture at the hands of a monster born in the pitch dark.
Trivia[]
- He's one of the only victims who has a complete inability to defend himself and can only slow X down via moving rubble and other props around the area.
Gerardo is one of X's various victims. He plays the game in a 2D Action Fight-styled gameplay. Quite similar to Sonic Battle.
Appearance[]
Gerardo is somewhat similar to classic Tails, but he has some glaring differences like his fur color being closer to brown instead of Tails' orange.
His most prominent feature is the strange amount of tails he possesses, being three, in stark contrast to Tails' two.
Personality[]
Gerardo is a fighter. Having struggled his entire life, he developed a tough exterior in order to adapt and survive to his harsh environment.
Just when life finally started to smile at him, a cruel twist of fate led to his friend mailing him a Sonic game in order to crack open and decode, which got him stuck inside X's world.
Trivia[]
- Ironically enough, having more tails than he should hinders Gerardo's ability to properly glide.
Alex is one of X's most recent victims. He plays the game as a traditional classic 2D Sonic game.
Appearance[]
Alex is one of the most normal-looking misfit, being almost identical to the original Mighty, with the exception of his weird yellowish, almost gold-like skin.
Personality[]
Alex is a question mark, seemingly lacking the ability to properly communicate (due to the lack of a mouth). Although he seemingly wants to cooperate with the others in order to aid to his own safety.
Trivia[]
- When they first met, The Original and Alex had a quick scuffle before properly meeting and having a conversation.
Potential[]
Unknown, evolves with how much VOID matter it has contained within it. Potentially limitless.
Trivia[]
- The way X sorts souls into vessels is by selecting souls with personalities that DON'T match the vessel they're going to inhabit. This is a personal experiment to see if souls will adapt and evolve their psyche to fit the characters or not.
- The First and The Original were created in tandem as a Lord X take. This has since changed and both were made independent characters.
- X's initial design was based on Mazin Sonic's.
- If X hadn't discovered Sonic, he most likely would've became a second moon for the Earth. Said moon would eventually crash into Earth and wipe out all life.
- X could theorically play the part of any Sonic character he wants, but he has a strong disdain towards wearing vessels and would rather present itself as an outsider to the rest of the Sonic cast.
- X doesn't have a preference for its pronouns, it's just that most people refer to it as a "him" because of his masculine build and deep voice.
