Thorned Rose is a human soul, who got herself trapped in her own fangame, Sonic Roses, after death. Now, she is in a constant pursuit to find the "perfect Sonic" through testing those who play her fangame. She is a tragic EXE made by ImmaStikboi to twist the traditional EXE formula into something new.
The Trapped Soul[]
Thorned Rose is a trapped soul who's looking for her "perfect Sonic" to live with for the rest of her digital eternity and she does it through testing her players on her fangame - Sonic Roses. Once she finds a player that passes her test, she takes their soul into the game and places them into a Sonic vessel. Now they must act as Sonic for the comfort of "Amy", as Thorned calls herself, forever because if they start to act out-of-character, Thorned won't take it kindly...
Appearance[]
She looks exactly like modern Amy, with her pink fur, hair-like quills, red and white outfit and golden bracelets around her wrists. The only difference is her lack of a face.
Her vessel looks as if it is decaying under her stress and anger. Her skin becomes paler, her fur's once-vibrant pink becomes darker and more desaturated, her clothes' lustrious red turns into a dead maroon, and her whites become rotten green. Fascinatingly, not only does her skin become more wrinkly but so does her clothes, with her ankle bones being clearly defined despite wearing boots. Her clothes are a part of her body. Her stand-out feature though, is her sharp, weaponised thorns around her arms.
It looks as cold and murderous as her intent. Her colours are reduced to monochrome, all tones of blue. Her body becomes more solid and hard-edged, her wrinkles turn into cracks, her fingers extend into lanky claws, even gaining claws on her feet, and her thorns turn into deadly icicles.
The Tale[]
Nina was a Sonic fangirl ever since she played Sonic Adventure 2 Battle as a kid, all of the characters and the world of Sonic captivated her and soon enough, she would interact with the forums at the same. She became obsessed with Sonamy, making art, fan-fictions and wars with Sonally shippers about it. Nina saw a lot of herself within Amy and she looked up to Sonic.
Later on in her life, during high school, she would have a crush on Jason due to his personality and voice evoking Sonic and soon, the two started dating. Nina loved Jason a very big lot as they would have a lot of fun experiences together and he would help her quite a bit, most notably doing Sonic's voice in her fangame, Sonic Roses. It was a fangame that started development during the 2010s that focused on Sonic and Amy as main characters.
Unfortunately, the two's relationship would falter as tensions between the two started to increase and eventually, the two broke up. Now she was moving on with her adult years... and it was not great. Her work life was hard and tough yet her salary was very little and her fangame's progress was disappointingly slow for her. Her declining mental state would affect her behaviour on the forums, leading her to be under controversy - she would become harsher and hot-temprered, to the point of her giving someone death threats. This would lead to her being outright banned from the forums that she was once so frequent on. Life had became more and more unfair all while she was secretly missing Jason, reminiscing on her childhood and looking up to Sonic with more and more sorrow each morning.
One day, she would go out and came back home with a rope. With her computer showing a picture of Sonic and his friends to be the last thing for Nina to see on Earth, she would tie an end to her life... only to wake up.
She was incredibly amazed. Not only was she in Sonic's world, she seemed to be in Rose Wonderland Zone, HER Sonic Zone, as Amy Rose. She was ecstatic as she explored the worlds that she made through her new-found perspective and yet she felt a little... empty, and hollow. Surely, it was an emptiness that she could fill, and who better to fill it than Sonic himself?
She knew that she couldn't just place an NPC to be Sonic, that wouldn't be good enough for her.
Eventually, she would email her fangame to Jason, her ex-boyfriend, and she would take Jason's soul into her game, killing his body on Earth in the process. Jason was flabbergasted to end up in the fangame's world as Sonic but he soon recognised who was Amy. He decided to play along with Amy, it was genuinely cool to explore Sonic's world with his very own eyes, but he also felt the same emptiness inside. This emptiness would start to hurt Sonic (as Jason was called by Amy at this time), for he started to miss his human life, particularly his family and friends. Amy would keep expanding her game with new zones and adventures to keep them stimulated.
Though, Jason started arguing with Amy under the pressure of missing his former life. Amy would become angrier at Jason, she did not want to be reminded of her former life's poor end and wanted to act like this life was any better. Whenever she was in distress however, she would start ti morph. Her body would start to decay like a dehydrated plant whilst thorns would begin to sprout out of her arms; she would turn back to normal once she was happy again but each time she would be frustrated, these transformations would only become more and more extreme. Jason would pick up on these and be somewhat disturbed by them, he wouldn't talk to Amy about them. This friction between them would increase more and more, until...
Jason snaps at Amy. He breaks down in front of her, calling her an insane monster for trapping him in her world, and Amy did not have it. She also snaps at him, transforming into her dry, thorny form, for Jason was breaking out of character, calling him a coward for wanting to go back home. She did NOT want to cling onto that former realm of existence, and wanted to make the best she could of her permanent presence behind the screen; and she was not about to deal with this with a coward like Jason. Jason, not Sonic. He isn't Sonic, he's a failure.
At that moment, her body becomes as cold as her intent. Resembling a choppy, ice sculpture, carved under cold, shakey hands. A choppy ice sculpture that could move.
Jason immediately runs away, attempting to traverse the lands without tripping in order to get away, but it isn't long before he hears Thorned's breathing. Before, he feels Thorned's breathing. Before he feels Thorned's frosted claws on his back, before he is tossed to the ground.
He could only stare in horror as the cold was closing in tightly into his chest, before solid ice started to grasp it.
To grasp into the guts inside.
Jason screams in severe agony as he gets frozen from the inside as Thorned firmly clutches his heart. As she feels his poor, cooling heart, she starts cackling slowly and quietly before crying out with insane, haunting laughter. As her wobbly, conflicted laughter goes on, Jason's pleading cries fall silent and a minute later, so does Thorned's cackling.
Thorned pauses a little, slowly transforming back into her Thorned form, before walking away, thinking that he deserved his death for ruining their game. As she's walking away though, some wretched waves of sound crash into her ear.
A strained, withered panting is heard, from somebody trying to get back up. He respawned, even though his body was a stiff, glorified ice block.
Jason's soul is here with her, forever. His soul can never go back, for his body has been buried long ago and the same applies to Nina's body. She can't escape either. Thorned feels a burst of sorrow at the image of Sonic's corpse before erupting with rage. She rips off random parts of Jason's body speoradically, whilst yelling at the top of her lungs repeatedly:
"YOU'RE NOT SONIC!"
She knocks him out, confused and scared, she can't bear the sight of her beloved idol being dead and traps Jason in an empty room.
Now she has to look for someone else to be her "perfect Sonic" and thus, her test is born. All the levels in her game that the player goes through are meant to test different aspects of Sonic character and if the player passes her test, they are transported to her world. She finds 2 other souls but they fail eventually too. Then, she gets to you.
Personality[]
Thorned tries to be supportive to Sonic - or rather the soul inside the vessel of Sonic - acting cheerful and bubbly just like Amy. However, her facade is a fragile one. Amy can be quite angry a lot of the time, sure, but Thorned can become incredibly furious.
This is due to her trauma from not only her hard and sorrowful adult life, but also her hollow existence behind the screen. Nothing feels quite right anymore for her and something always seems to be missing, even when she's trying to fill it with her "perfect Sonic". So when said "perfect Sonic" starts to fall out of line, she becomes incredibly cruel towards them, for she only sees them as a failure.

Jason Morris is the first victim of Thorned Rose but he is the last victim that the player can find.
Appearance[]
He actually greatly resembles Thorned's Frosted Form. He has a hard, blue body that is somehow able to deform for the sake of movement - though his movement is stunted greatly. Most strikingly, multiple body parts are torn off him, such as his right arm, left ear, and head quills, and he has a crack on his head. All his traits are remnants of his death as though his body was brutalised, due to the rules of the game, he was forced to respawn and Thorned did nothing to fix his vessel.
Personality[]
Before he was here, he acted a lot like Sonic, hence Nina's relationship with him, though he gradually became more anxious due to the ramifications of the digital realm, such as everything feeling like "nothing" for a lack of better terms. After he snapped and got killed by Thorned for it, he became depressed and mellow as he could not escape his confinement. He sometimes likes to crack some dry, perhaps dark, humour sometimes and laugh to himself, but otherwise, he's very quiet - a far cry from his former character.

He is simply trapped in a small, cuboid room, with zero exit, whilst his body is basically a living, frozen corpse.

- She is slower than Sonic, when the Sonic has a soul in it, as the limitations of gameplay are no longer in affect.
- Teleportation - At this stage, she only does it off-screen to not blow her cover.
- Enhanced speed - She can keep up with Sonic, even when he has a soul in it.
- Though she cannot surpass him just yet, her max speed is still lower than Sonic by a bit.
- Teleportation - she can do it on-screen now because the cover is gone by now.
- Thorneration - She can make and shoot thorns out from any part of her body, even her clothes since they are actually part of her body.

- The decision to make an EXE that isn't Sonic was inspired by Marcoworlds' "Sonic.Exe Designs - What Makes Some Stick + Design Tips" video.
- ImmaStikboi based her on Amy Rose because of the saying about roses having thorns.
- Her design is heavily influenced by Lord X and Lord Mortis.
- She calls herself Amy, nobody refers to her as Thorned Rose or Thorned in the story
- She is only called Thorned Rose so we do not confuse her with the real Amy Rose.
- Her story is also somewhat inspired by Wistful, one of ImmaStikboi's favourite EXEs, especially with how Thorned's forms are based on her emotions and several story beats.
- Despte a close resemblance to Rusty Rose from Marcosworld's Under The Flesh, she is not inspired by her at all despite her page coming out days after Rusty Rose's image was uploaded to the wiki.
- ImmaStikboi did not know UTF lore very well at the time.
- With all that being said, ImmaStikboi thinks the coincidence is really funny.
- If the two were to interact, they would NOT get along and argue with each other relatively quickly.
- Nina does not like the Meta Era games, she vastly prefers the Adventure games and Dark Age era games due to the Meta games "bastardising" the characters and writing in her eyes.
- The clothes that she wears in the Sinister Minds fanart are the exact clothes that she wore before she died. This is currently the closest that ImmaStikboi has done to hinting at what Nina looked like before she became Thorned Rose.
- Her human form is a mystery as ImmaStikboi wants fans to speculate on what it could be based on their perception of Thorned Rose as a character.
