STORY (his origin)[]

Born from the center of the Big Bang, Chalythos (kal-those) was the only god of his universe. He longed for creatures like himself, so he searched the cosmos and eventually stumbled upon Earth around 4,000 years ago. Intrigued by the life on this small blue world, he observed a tribe of echidnas who survived by caring for one another.

One day, he saw a young echidna girl lost in a nearby forest. Feeling a strange sense of bravery and compassion, he descended to help her, asking why she didn’t simply walk back to the nearby village. She explained that she was blind, and her walking stick had broken while she was trying to find her way home.

Seeing her fear and confusion, Chalythos gently helped her return to the village. When he arrived, he saw the villagers searching frantically for her. Wanting to tell them she was safe, he stepped forward to greet them, only to watch them recoil in terror. For the first time, he saw his reflection: a hideous, monstrous creature resembling an unholy Demon.

The girl’s mother snatched her away, screaming that the beast would devour her daughter. Distraught, Chalythos was then attacked by the tribe with spears and stones. They couldn’t hurt him physically, but emotionally it was the first time he ever felt sadness, like a hole had opened in his heart. Not understanding the concepts of good or evil, he lashed out in his anguish.

The tribe’s elders, using the power of the Master Emerald they had secretly guarded, managed to imprison him within a strange crystal: the Phantom Ruby. Trapped inside, he was sealed in a formless void within the gem.

Alone in a void with nothing but his thoughts for thousands of years, Chalythos suddenly saw a flash of light. He opened his eyes to find strange lights flickering above him, tubes running everywhere, and in front of him stood a man with a long gray mustache, and beside him, a small girl.

The man introduced himself as Dr. Gerald Robotnik, and said the girl was his granddaughter, Maria. He explained that he had freed Chalythos from his prison and brought him to the Space Colony ARK. Then, with cold certainty, he added that from now on, Chalythos would follow his orders.

Enraged after what felt like an eternity trapped in darkness. Chalythos lashed out, trying to escape. But something was wrong. He wasn’t in his original body. He looked down and saw a monstrous form, even worse than before.

Dr. Robotnik calmly explained that he had been using the body for Project Shadow, but failed to give it life until he discovered ancient tablets describing a creature from the sky sealed away in a ruby. He searched the Earth for this ruby until he found it deep within an underground cave system. When he realized Chalythos was still trapped inside, he fused the corpse and the ruby together. The ruby’s power spread like an infection, mutating the body, granting it an extra pair of arms and tripling its height.

To ensure control, the doctor created inhibitor rings that could drain Chalythos’s power to almost nothing if he ever tried to attack or disobey. This only deepened Chalythos’s hatred for these creatures, making him regret ever coming to this planet.

For the next three years, he was treated like a lab rat. If he resisted, the doctor would weaken him, and guards would beat and shock him back into submission. Yet, there was one small light in the darkness: Maria.

After each test, she would sit beside the glass tube where he was locked during the nights. She read him books, telling stories of a world he had never seen. Chalythos slowly grew attached to her, she was one of the only beings who treated him with kindness. But even Maria wasn’t spared from her grandfather’s cruelty. The doctor cared nothing for her; he only used her to seek a cure for the mysterious illness she had and chase greater fame. Their only moments of peace were those quiet hours after the experiments ended.

One day, the organization G.U.N. visited the ARK to evaluate the doctor’s project. After seeing Chalythos’ abilities, they wanted to use him for war. While the doctor was distracted in the meeting, Chalythos formed a plan.

Using every bit of power he had saved, he sent out an energy wave that shut down the ARK’s power temporarily. He broke free, ran as fast as he could, grabbed Maria, and headed for the escape pods. He told her they weren’t going to be lab rats anymore.

But before they reached safety, a deafening gunshot echoed through the hall. Chalythos looked down to see a bullet hole in Maria’s chest. He turned, frozen in shock, to see Dr. Robotnik holding the smoking gun. As the power flickered back on, the doctor said coldly that Maria was expendable, that Chalythos was the real key to success.

Overwhelmed with rage and grief, Chalythos screamed so loudly the entire ARK trembled. The ruby in his chest glowed violently. Drawing on this new strength, he melted the inhibitor rings into his skin so they could never be used against him again.

Then the slaughter began.

He hunted down every human on the ARK. One by one, they fell, until only Dr. Robotnik remained. Trembling and cornered, the doctor begged for mercy. Chalythos felt something strange: the ruby in his chest pulsed, glowing brighter. He realized the doctor’s fear was fueling him, feeding him like a fire.

His chest opened, ready to consume the doctor’s soul.

But with his last ounce of strength, Dr. Robotnik activated the emergency system, trapping Chalythos back in his containment chamber. As the freezing process overtook him, the doctor whispered with his dying breath:

“You truly are the Ultimate Failure.”
