The X Entity is the main antagonist of the upcoming Sonic Decay, created by Willowprophet as a reimagining of Sonic.exe. Arriving on Mobius long ago, it possessed ancient Mobians to feed on fear and agony, After years of torment, it was sealed within the heart of Angel Island for centuries. After the Death Egg crashed on the island, the seal was destroyed and freed the entity, leading to it choosing the desperate Sonic as its host.
The Creature[]
The X Entity is a predatory and parasitic being, driven not by curiosity or creation but by instinctual hunger. It thrives on suffering, binding itself to hosts and progressively influencing them until it can fully control them. Unlike many sadistic monsters, X does not torment for amusement alone, its cruelty is rooted in survival, feeding on pain and death as a means to strengthen itself.
Appearance[]
The X Entity has no singular form, rather having multiple.
Parasite[]
In its Parasite form, it is a semi-physical morphing shadow, often with tendrils swarming around its singular white eye.
Decay[]
It takes the form of Decay when possessing Sonic, distorting his corpse to be taller and rotten. It has dark grayish-blue fur and green-ish flesh. Decay’s body is covered with black veins and ichor, melting into itself as it rots. Its gums are visible in its wide, unnatural smile. Like in its Weakened Form, it has a singular white eye in its void-like sclera.
Projection[]
As Projection, the entity is similar in appearance to its Parasite Form, with a singular white eye and a distorted, geometric-like silhouette of Sonic for a body.

The Tale[]
Millenia Ago (Pre-Series)[]
Eons ago, an alien entity known as X arrived on Angel Island of planet Mobius. It chose many hosts, particularly Ancient Echidnas, to perform its sadistic actions. After years of torment and absorption of power and energy, the Echidnas imprisoned X in the heart of Angel Island, never to be freed.
Following X’s imprisonment, a religion known as Xythi (zai-thee) arose among many of the Echidnas. Its followers, the Society of Xyth (zai-th), worshipped X, or Xyth as they named it, as a god, performing sacrifices and rituals to restore its strength. When banished by their tribes, they retreated underground, building hidden temples and recording X’s supposed lore. Over time, the cult deceased, leaving only ruins and whispers of a faith and civilization, devoted to darkness.
Post-Crash (Sonic Decay)[]
After the Death Egg crashed on Angel Island, the sheer amount of force destroyed the seal of X’s prison, freeing it. After days of searching the island, it stumbled upon a desperate, jaded Sonic, bonding with him. Taking advantage of him, it influenced Sonic to murder Eggman, causing his morality to corrupt, and making its way into Sonic’s mind to control him, turning into the monstrous Decay.
Following X’s ceasing of Sonic’s mind, it murdered many on the island (notably Mighty and Ray) who had been looking for Sonic following his disappearance. It spent most of its time as Decay tormenting both Tails and Knuckles.
In a mission to bring back Sonic, Knuckles forced the separation between Sonic and X after a long battle and significant stress and damage. X copied the power and energy of Sonic, becoming Projection. It later impaled Knuckles as Sonic then died of sickness, leaving Tails alone on a dark, empty island.

X has taken the lives of many in its urge for suffering and death.

Dr. Ivo Robotnik was the Emperor of the Robotnik Empire and one of the X Entity’s many victims. He was murdered by Sonic, who was under the influence of X.
Appearance[]
Robotnik is a tall, overweight bald man with a long pronounced mustache, pink nose, and a scar across the side of his head. He wears small glasses as well as a militarized uniform based on his canonical classic attire.
Personality[]
A cold, calculating individual, Robotnik sought a world of machines and with his intellect, enslaved countless animals to power his robots, building a world wide empire.
Miles Prower, known by his nickname Tails, is one of the many victims of the X Entity. In the series, he progressively loses any optimism and innocence as Sonic is corrupted by the X Entity into Decay.
Appearance[]
Like his canonical depictions, Tails is an orange and white fox with two tails. Tails is a mix of his official classic and modern designs, with a scar across his eye and blue shoes.
Personality[]
Tails initially has a more optimistic outlook on the war against the Robotnik Empire, but as Sonic is corrupted by X, becoming a violent predator, he lost that hope and innocence and became jaded and pessimistic.Trivia[]
- X has no care for affection or romance, finding it a waste of time and considering itself above it.
- X likes to eat small animals, it views the helpless creatures as quick snacks.
- Lt. Columbia is able to outsmart X (based on an in-joke roleplay, this isn’t actually canon)
- The design for Decay initially had two red eyes more like most versions of X, but was changed to a singular white eye as an attempt to stand out
- X is sapient, but that sophisticated intelligence is overshadowed by its wild predator and sadistic tendencies which it prioritizes much more. If given the time, it can critically think and have complex ideas and conversations
- If it ever met other EXE-based characters, it would either respond with admiration or hatred depending on the character (Ex: Respect toward 2011X, disdain toward Sark.)
